Wallace to join Pistons coaching staff
The Detroit News reported Monday that former Detroit Pistons power forward/center Rasheed Wallace agreed to join the team's coaching staff to work with their big men.
The team has not made an announcement.
Wallace finished a one-year deal with the New York Knicks and does not have to file retirement papers since he is not on an existing contract. His season was cut short by a stress fracture.
Wallace, the No. 4 pick in the 1995 draft, will work with Detroit's young bigs Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and second-round pick Tony Mitchell.
Wallace helped the Pistons win the NBA title in 2004 and played there until 2009. He also played for the Washington Bullets (1995-96), Portland Trail Blazers (1996-2004), Atlanta Hawks (2004) and Boston Celtics (2009-10). He averaged 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in his career.
