U.S. blanked by Swiss in hockey worlds

Switzerland shut out the United States 3-0 in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Stockholm on Saturday and will play for the gold medal of the tournament.

The Swiss will play for the gold for the first time since 1953. They will play Sweden on Sunday.

Team USA will take on Finland in the bronze medal game, also Sunday.

New York Islanders prospect Nino Niederreiter, Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi and Reto Suri each scored for Switzerland.

Calgary Flames prospect Reto Berra had 29 saves in goal.

Sweden beat Finland 3-0 Saturday in the other semifinal. Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson scored twice and former Hart Trophy winner Henrik Sedin had a goal for the Swedes.
