Titans strike deal with pass rusher Shaun Phillips

The Tennessee Titans are signing veteran outside linebacker Shaun Phillips to a two-year contract.

Phillips played last seaso for the AFC champion Denver Broncos, recording 10 sacks, 36 tackles, one interception and two forced fumbles.

In a decade in the NFL, the 6-foot-3, 255-pounder has 79.5 career sacks and 22 forced fumbles.

He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2010 when he played for the San Diego Chargers. Phillips had a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2006. He led the NFL with seven forced fumbles in 2009. He played collegiately at Purdue.

“Shaun is an athletic pass rusher, who has been a productive player his entire career,” Titans general manager Ruston Webster said in a statement. “His flexibility is an asset as well – being raised as a 3-4 linebacker and having success in as a 4-3 end last year. He will add to our mix of pass rushers and improves that group from a production and experience standpoint.”
