The Atlanta Falcons have a boat load of new rookies that bring at least intrigue.

Can Keanu Neal, the 17th-overall selection, really be a Kam Chancellor-like player they’re hoping for, even though he went much earlier than expected. Meanwhile, can tight end Austin Hooper emerge as a number one tight end, something they haven’t found since Tony Gonzalez retired after the 2013 season?

We obviously won’t know for a while, but it’s fun to at least speculate what could happen with these new guys. As today is Thursday, let’s take a look at some of the best college highlights from some of the team’s new players.

Keanu Neal

We’re very unsure if he can even be half the player Chancellor was, but his days with the Florida Gators suggest the Falcons have something special in him:

Deion Jones

Many had question marks about this pick, but Jones should be able to produce on a revamped Falcons defensive line. Learning from Derrick Shelby, Vic Beasley and Sean Weatherspoon should help a ton.

The number one question mark is ALWAYS if these guys can transition from the college level to the NFL. There’s not a reason to think Jones can’t produce right away.

Austin Hooper

He has the luxury of learning from Jacob Tamme, who had played a few years with Peyton Manning in Indianapolis and Denver. Hooper has a chance of being the team’s number one tight end right away, and he should fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Here’s hoping these draft picks can bring Falcons fans to their feet.
