Texans release tight end Owen Daniels

National Football Post

The Houston Texans have released tight end Owen Daniels, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.

Daniels was taken in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL draft and has enjoyed a lot of success in Houston. He was named to the Pro Bowl roster in 2008 and 2012, and made the NFL all-rookie team in 2006.

But Daniels' success came under Gary Kubiak, who's now the offensive coordinator in Baltimore. It's possible new Texans coach Bill O'Brien wants to head in a different direction at the tight end position.

O'Brien is also recovering from a fractured fibula that relegated him to just five games in 2013.

In his career, Daniels has caught 385 passes for 4,617 yards and 29 touchdowns.
