Sources: Wisconsin RB James White visited Patriots, worked out for Dolphins, Bears, Browns

Wisconsin standout running back James White has visited and worked out for the New England Patriots, according to league sources.

He's also worked out for the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, and the Cleveland Browns.

White is an athletic, all-around back who was extremely productive in the Big Ten Conference.

A former Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year who rushed for 1,052 yards and 14 touchdowns during his first season for the Badgers, White gained 1,444 yards last season while working in tandem with running back Melvin Gordon. Together, they combined for 3,052 rushing yards to set a single-season record.

He was a second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection last season.

White also had 670 receiving yards, a school record for a running back, and had 39 career kickoff returns for 765 yards.

White backed up Montee Ball in 2012 and rushed for 806 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had 119 rushing yards and four touchdowns and threw a three-yard touchdown pass in the Big Ten championship game against Nebraska.

The 5-foot-9, 204-pounder fumbled just twice in 754 career touches.

At the NFL scouting combine, White ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds and bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times with a 9-6 broad jump and a 32-inch vertical leap.
