Source: Colts sign RB Dion Lewis to two-year deal
The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Dion Lewis to a two-year deal, a league source told Yahoo Sports.
Lewis became a free agent in August after the Cleveland Browns cut him, as the team leaned on running backs Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell for depth behind Ben Tate. In 2013, Lewis didn't play a down after suffering a broken leg in the Browns' second preseason game.
Lewis was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round in 2011. He played in 24 games over two seasons before being dealt to the Browns.
In his reserve role, Lewis has rushed for 171 yards on 36 career carries and two touchdowns.
The Colts currently feature Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw in the backfield. Against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Richardson carried six times for 20 yards while Bradshaw added 15 yards on three carries.
