Reports: Knicks, Nuggets still talking Shumpert-Faried trade
Will they or won't they? That remains the key question as the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets continue discussions on a possible trade that would send Iman Shumpert to Denver in exchange for Kenneth Faried heading to New York, according to a report on ESPN.com.
However, the web site reported Wednesday about a new twist in the saga, that "multiple teams" are now interested in Shumpert once it became known that the Knicks were interested in potentially dealing the savvy defensive specialist.
Another report in the New York Daily News said the Shumpert-for-Faried talks "have intensified" but gave no further details or whether a deal was imminent or not.
Faried would provide the Knicks with their biggest immediate need, someone to replace injured center Tyson Chandler, who is out for at least a month with a fractured fibula.
According to a variety of media reports, Denver is willing to deal Faried, but the price is the key -- and it's not so much about money.
The Nuggets reportedly also want draft picks as part of a Faried deal, which it is unclear if the Knicks are willing to agree to or not.
Faried averaged 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds last season, his sophomore campaign in the NBA.
While the Knicks value Shumpert, they also have several surrounding cast members that can fill his role, including J.R. Smith, Beno Udrih and rookie Tim Hardaway Jr., in the frontcourt.
