Penguins acquire Stars' Morrow

Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow waived his no-trade clause and agreed to a trade that will send him to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Dallas will send Morrow and a third-round pick in 2013 to Pittsburgh in exchange for prospect defenseman Joe Morrow and a fifth-round pick in 2013.

Brenden Morrow, 34, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in July.

The Boston Bruins had also shown interest in Brenden Morrow, multiple media outlets reported.

Brenden Morrow has been slowed by injuries the past two years. He has six goals and five assists in 29 games this season.

The Penguins would like to put Morrow on their second line, where he would join former Dallas teammate James Neal and reigning NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin.
