Raiders Outlasted by Chargers, 31-28
The Oakland defense had no answer for Derek Carr, but it would prove not enough to avoid a frustrating loss for the Raiders against the Chargers, 31-28, at home.
Carr had a stellar game with four touchdowns on 18 of 34 passing for 282 yards and one pick. Philip Rivers gave the Chargers a big boost, and ended up going 22 of 34 with 313 yards through the air, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Darren McFadden was a bright spot for the Raiders, running for 80 yards on 14 carries. Andre Holmes was a highlight, catching four passes for 121 yards with two scores.
The Oakland defense allowed 116 yards rushing and 313 passing. They tackled Rivers for a sack.
Chargers running back Branden Oliver was impressive, churning out 101 yards rushing, 23 receiving and one touchdown. After Rivers, he was the top performer for San Diego. Wide receiver Malcom Floyd also put together a noteworthy performance with 103 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Raiders will play host to the Cardinals (3-1) next week while the Chargers play against the Chiefs (2-3), also at home.
