Kliff Kingsbury can thank his disregard for Texas Tech’s parking rules as a reason why he’s currently the Red Raiders’ coach.

Kingsbury played quarterback at Texas Tech from 1999-2002 and played in the CFL after playing in the NFL. He was pondering his post-playing plans while in the CFL in 2007 and wasn’t sure what he wanted to do next. An MBA was off the table because he couldn’t get his diploma from Texas Tech.

Why? Because of all of the parking tickets he had accumulated as a student there.

We’re now wondering how the parking ticket situation was ever resolved. Did Kingsbury pay them after he started climbing the college football ladder? Was there a hilarious provision in his contract at Texas Tech that absolved him of his responsibility of the parking tickets when he became the school’s head coach?

At least now Kingsbury has his own parking spot at the team facility so he doesn’t have to worry about getting another parking ticket unless he ventures across campus.
