Panthers make 12 cuts

The Carolina Panthers cut 12 players Saturday, including injured offensive tackle Bruce Campbell, wide receiver Kealoha Pilares and fullback Michael Zordich.

If they are not claimed by other teams, the Panthers will place them on injured reserve.

Tuesday is the deadline to cut rosters to 75 players.

Pilares sustained a knee injury during Thursday's 34-27 preseason win over the Baltimore Ravens. Campbell (shoulder) and Zordich (knee) were injured earlier during training camp.

Campbell was listed as the backup left tackle but rotator cuff surgery is expected to prevent him from playing this year. Pilares was iffy to make the roster even if he were healthy.

Carolina also waived quarterback Colby Cameron, punter Jordan Gay, cornerback Nick Hixson, kicker Morgan Lineberry, wide receiver Dale Moss, defensive end Louis Nzegwu, linebacker Ryan Rau, safety Ricardo Silva and guard Justin Wells.
