Packers hiring Ron Zook as assistant special teams coach

Former Illinois coach Ron Zook has been hired by the Green Bay Packers as assistant special teams caoch according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Zook is a former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator for two seasons.

Zook was fired by Illinois following the 2011 season.

Zook is a former Pittsburgh Steelers special-teams coach and Kansas City Chiefs secondary coach.

He worked on the same staff with Packers coach Mike McCarthy in New Orleans.

Zook replaces Chad Morton.

The Packers are hiring Sam Gash to coach the Packers' running backs with Alex Van Pelt moving to quarterbacks coach, per the report.
