An up and coming prospect, Batavia (Ill.) offensive lineman Nolan Eike has heard from plenty of schools.

"Recruiting is going well. I have visited Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Central Michigan and Illinois State," Eike said.

The most recent visit for the 6-foot-6, 260-pound prospect was to Illinois.

"Illinois had a beautiful campus and their facilities were nice,” Eike said. “I was very impressed with the coaching staff and the way they conduct practice. Also, I like the direction that Coach Smith has the program going.”

Other than head coach Lovie Smith, Eike has been in contact with offensive line coach Luke Butkus the most frequently. As for recruiting, it's been a process he's enjoyed.

"The best part about recruiting so far has been getting to know the coaches and being able to visit the facilities of the universities," Eike said.

Eike is being recruited as an offensive tackle, a position he's learned a lot about in the last several years.

"My strengths are my technique and overall ability to get into people and to get up field with my blocks," Eike said.

Although a decision isn't coming soon from Eike, he does have a plan.

"As I get closer to making a decision I will be looking for a university that I feel comfortable at and can see myself improving academically and athletically.

“Also, I feel that it is important to have a strong connection with your coaches and future teammates before choosing where to attend.”
