Oden to work out for Heat, Pelicans, Kings

Former No. 1 draft pick Greg Oden will work out for three teams this week before deciding on his NBA future, ESPN reported Monday.

The 25-year-old center will host in-person workouts for the Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings.

Despite that, the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs remain the favorites to land Oden.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were also contenders last week before signing Andrew Bynum to a two-year deal.

Oden met with the Kings and Mavericks last week in Las Vegas and rescheduled a meeting with the Pelicans for this week.

Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, has not played in a game since Dec. 5, 2009 because of various knee surgeries. In 82 games, he has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

Of the three teams watching Oden work out this week, the Heat reportedly have the best chance of signing him while the Kings are viewed as a longshot.
