Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia stay atop polls

The top three teams stayed in their spots by both major polls, which were released Sunday.

Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia are still atop the AP media poll and USA Today coaches poll.

The Fighting Irish (12-0) received all 60 first place votes by the AP but 56 of 59 in the coaches poll. No. 2 Alabama got two first place votes and No. 3 Georgia received one.

Notre Dame will play the winner of the SEC championship game between Alabama and Georgia for the national championship Jan. 7.

Ohio State, also 12-0, is fourth in the media poll but is ineligible to be ranked in the coaches poll and is banned from the postseason because of NCAA sanctions.

Florida moved up to No. 5 in the both polls after beating rival Florida State.

Oregon is fourth in the coaches poll and No. 6 in the AP poll.

LSU (No. 6), Kansas State (No. 7), Texas A&M (No. 8), Stanford (No. 9) and South Carolina (No. 10) round out the USA Today top 10.

The rest of AP's top 10 is No. 7 Kansas State, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 LSU and No. 10 Texas A&M.
