Jan 7 (The Sports Xchange) - After missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season, the Miami Dolphins parted ways with general manager Jeff Ireland on Tuesday. The team announced that the separation was by mutual consent. Ireland's job status was viewed as tenuous after the Dolphins lost their final two games of the regular season, to the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets, to finish 8-8. A win in either game would have secured a playoff berth. - - Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Ben McAdoo will interview to become the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. McAdoo, 36, was tight ends coach for six seasons with the Packers. He was promoted to offensive coordinator when Joe Philbin became head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2012. McAdoo and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, 37, are two of the several known candidates for the Browns. - - Mike Munchak will interview with the Detroit Lions to replace Jim Schwartz as head coach. Munchak, fired by the Tennessee Titans after three seasons, worked with Schwartz when they were both assistant coaches under Jeff Fisher in Tennessee. Schwartz was fired after five seasons in Detroit the day after the 2013 season ended with the Lions outside of the playoff picture for the fourth time under Schwartz. - - Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster will be deliberate in his search for the franchise's next head coach. Jay Gruden, offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Jim Caldwell, offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, were first on the list and could be interviewed by the end of the week. Gruden was scheduled to meet with Webster on Tuesday. But the search is more likely to last into the late part of the month. - - Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who has been on injured reserve since Dec. 24, will have ACL surgery Wednesday. Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports that Miller's swelling has subsided enough for surgeons to go ahead with the operation. - - New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has been sidelined since Dec. 9, will have surgery on both his ACL and MCL on Thursday, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday. Gronkowski suffered the season-ending injury in the Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns when safety T.J. Ward went low to make an open-field tackle. - - The New Orleans Saints placed outside linebacker Parys Haralson on injured reserve, signed free agent safety Jordan Pugh and waived safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, coach Sean Payton announced after Tuesday's practice. Haralson tore a pectoral muscle during Saturday's 26-24 wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-foot-0, 255-pounder played in 16 games for the Saints this season with 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks in eight starts. The Saints acquired him from the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 27. - - Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin will practice again Tuesday in preparation of Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, coach Pete Carroll announced. Carroll told reporters before practice that Tuesday would be a key factor in whether or not Harvin plays this weekend. "If (Percy's) playing, that means we're going to do whatever we planned to do with him," Carroll said. - - Indianapolis Colts safety LaRon Landry was not cleared to practice Tuesday after suffering a concussion last Saturday as the team prepares for the divisional playoff game against the New England Patriots. Landry suffered a concussion in Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. - - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed four players -- cornerback Devin Smith, linebacker Dan Molls, running back Miguel Maysonet and wide receiver Lanear Sampson -- to reserve/future contracts, the team announced.
