MRI on Lions DE Avril's back shows nothing serious

An MRI on Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril on Monday revealed there is no serious damage to his back, according to CBS Sports.

Avril left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter after twisting his back pursuing Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder. He did not return.

"I think I'll be all right," Avril said after the game. "We've just got to figure out what's going on and then, you know, find out what I can do to calm it down and we'll go from there."

He said he expects to be fine. The Lions have a bye this week and then visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 14.
