Marlins promote executives Hill, Jennings

The Miami Marlins announced in a press conference Sunday that they promoted Michael Hill to president of baseball operations and Dan Jennings to general manager.

The restructuring occured after owner Jeffrey Loria fired longtime executive Larry Beinfest last week.

The moves were announced before the Marlins' season finale against the Detroit Tigers.

Hill was previously the team's vice president and GM since 2007. He has been with the Marlins for 11 years. Hill is only the third president of baseball operations in the Marlins' 21-year history.

Jennings was the Marlins' assistant GM and vice president of player development. He has been with the team for 12 years.

The Marlins finished last in the National League East for the third straight year and head into Sunday's finale 61-100.
