Marlins go back to five-man rotation
The Miami Marlins are back to using a five-man rotation.
Left-hander Wade LeBlanc threw an inning of relief on Friday night, signaling the end of Miami's six-man rotation.
LeBlanc had been slated to start Tuesday at Atlanta. Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will start that day, as the rest of the rotation is moved up a day.
With the six-man rotation, pitching coach Randy St. Claire said he thought the starting pitchers struggled to stay sharp because they started once a week.
Right-hander Ricky Nolasco started Sunday and allowed just two runs on five hits in seven innings before the Marlins lost 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Marlins are off Monday before opening a three-game series at Atlanta.
Eovaldi starts Tuesday, Josh Johnson on Wednesday and Jacob Turner on Thursday.
