Mariners' Roenis Elias out for season, likely postseason with elbow injury

Mariners left-hander Roenis Elias will miss 4-6 weeks with strained flexor bundle in his elbow, the team announced. He is done for the regular season and likely the postseason as well.

Elias, 26, will finish his rookie season with a 10-12 record and a 3.85 ERA. He made 29 starts and threw 163 2/3 innings after skipping Triple-A. That performance should earn him a few Rookie of the Year votes.

The Mariners come into Monday 1.5 games back of the Royals for the second wild-card spot. If they make the postseason, their top three starters figure to be Felix Hernandez, Hisashi Iwakuma and James Paxton.
