Ladarius Green's absence gets a little more concerning for Steelers
Ladarius Green was supposed to replace Heath Miller as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ tight end, but an ankle injury has kept him out of training camp.
At least we all thought it was the ankle injury keeping him out.
NFL Media’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported that it’s recurring headaches, and not the ankle, keeping Green off the field. That’s some frightening news.
Green has a history of concussions. He missed a game in 2014 for the San Diego Chargers and another in 2015 due to concussions. He suffered three of them in a calendar year, NFL.com said. Pro Football Talk reported that retirement is an option for Green, or that the Steelers might cut him.
Kinkhabwala never ties Green’s concussion history to the recurring headaches, though there has to be concern from Green and the Steelers that the two are connected. Green signed a four-year, $20 million and hasn’t been on the field once in training camp. The team has blamed the ankle, but Green’s agent Adisa Bakari told NFL Media, “His ankle is fine.”
Concussion symptoms can be unpredictable, if that’s what Green is dealing with. But we do know that the Steelers are already without suspended Martavis Bryant for the season, without suspended Le’Veon Bell for the first four weeks, and their big addition at tight end has yet to see the field in training camp.
All the Steelers can do is wait and hope they get Green back on the field soon.
