Joe Wieland pulled in third inning in season debut

Padres pitcher Joe Wieland didn't factor into the decision in his season debut Saturday, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks in 2 1/3 innings and striking out one in his team's 7-6, 12-inning loss to the Rockies.

Wieland hadn't pitched since 2012 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and while the results weren't great -- he allowed two home runs in the loss Saturday -- he's finally healthy and back on a major-league mound. Wieland is in line to face the Diamondbacks next weekend.
