Jimmy Butler scores 33 as Bulls defeat Pelicans

Jimmy Butler scored 33 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, 107-100. The Bulls shot 41-89 (46.1%) from the field and controlled the offensive glass with 15 rebounds. This is the sixth win in a row for Chicago (21-9). The streak began with a 103-97 victory over New York on December 18th.

Butler shot 12-18 (0-3 from three-point range) and 9-10 from the free throw line, in a quality offensive outing. Chicago also got solid performances from Taj Gibson with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Nikola Mirotic with 10 points and six rebounds. Anthony Davis had another big game for New Orleans despite the loss, scoring 29 points on 13-24 shooting. He also registered 11 rebounds and six blocks. Jrue Holiday added 19 points and seven assists.

New Orleans (15-15) couldn't get consecutive victories after beating San Antonio on Friday.

Coming up next, the Bulls square off with the Indiana Pacers, who are 11-20 on the year. The Pelicans go up against the Phoenix Suns, currently 17-14 this season. The Bulls are 0-1 versus Indiana this season.
