Former Raiders LB McClain clears waivers
Former Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain cleared waivers and officially became a free agent Monday.
Later Monday, however, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that a source close to the player claimed McClain has received three offers from teams. Two other teams have expressed interest as well, according to the report.
Pat Dye, McClain's agent, was allowed to talk to teams when the Raiders were attempting to trade McClain. As a result, the process has been accelerated, and he could be signed soon.
The eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft was waived Friday. He started nine games in 2012, recording just one sack, and never lived up to expectations.
Last month, the team reportedly gave McClain permission to seek a trade but no teams seemed interested.
McClain was arrested in January for a window tint violation. Previously, he had been charged with allegedly pointing a gun at a man and firing a shot next to the man's head. Those charges were dropped.
McClain was also suspended two games for conduct detrimental to the team.
McClain, 23, was scheduled to earn $4 million in 2013 and $5.8 million in 2014.
