Dwight Howard cleared to play for Lakers on Friday

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard has been cleared to play in Friday night's game against Utah after seeing shoulder specialist Dr. James Tibone on Thursday.

Howard aggravated his right shoulder during Wednesday night's game against Memphis. He separated his labrum on Jan. 4 against the Clippers and missed three games before returning to action on Jan. 13.

Tibone said Thursday that there was no further damage to the shoulder. Howard could suit up for the Lakers on Friday, but Paul Gasol is expected to start at center in his place.

The Lakers have played the Jazz twice already this season , with Utah winning both times. Friday's matchup will be the last between the two teams during the regular season.
