Dodgers bring up OF Abreu

The Los Angeles Dodgers brought up outfielder Bobby Abreu from Class AAA Albuquerque, the club announced Sunday.

Abreu, 38, was signed by the Dodgers in May after being let go by the Los Angeles Angels. The Dodgers designated Abreu for assignment Aug. 1. He batted .353 in five games with Albuquerque. He is hitting .246 with two homers and 22 RBI in 78 major league games this year.

The Dodgers also recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Withrow from Class AA Chattanooga before placing him on the 60-day disabled list.
