Cowboys want DeMarcus Ware to take a pay cut

Evidently, the Dallas Cowboys want DeMarcus Ware on the roster in 2014. Just at a different price.

According to a report from ESPN Dallas, the Cowboys have told Ware that they want him to take a pay cut. As of now, Ware is slated to earn $12.25 million base salar in 2014.

The Cowboys are strapped against the salary cap and are looking to restructure Ware's deal to provide relief. But this could be trickier since the Cowboys need Ware to take less money.

In February, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN that anything could happen in these kind of situations. Though the Cowboys want Ware back, nothing's guaranteed.

“There’s no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we’ve had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that’s your highest paid defensive player, and he hasn’t been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered,” Jones told ESPN. “You can’t have it all.”
