Chad Bettis started chemotherapy and the baseball community had his back

It’s been a roller coaster six months for Colorado Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis. He thought he had beaten cancer after surgery and clear follow-ups, but recently discovered that the cancer had unexpectedly spread.

Bettis didn’t waste any time giving his returned cancer the what-for. He started chemotherapy on Monday, less than two weeks after he announced that the cancer was back. And even though he’s obviously taking a break from the Rockies and baseball right now, his team has his back.

In fact, the Rockies wanted Chad to know that all of baseball has his back.

And as you knew it would, baseball showed up in grand fashion. Here’s just a small sampling of the positive, supportive messages that teams sent to Chad.

Players chimed in with their support, too.

Bettis was completely overwhelmed by the response, not just from teams and players, but from all the fans who tweeted their support and solidarity.

We’re all pulling for you, Chad. Keep on fighting.
