Celtics lose Barbosa for season with ACL injury

Two weeks after losing guard Rajon Rondo for the season, the Boston Celtics said Tuesday they have lost guard Leandro Barbosa for the year because of a torn ACL in his left knee.

Barbosa injured his knee Monday night against the Charlotte Bobcats. An MRI on Tuesday confirmed severity the injury.

The Celtics lost Rondo on Jan. 25 to a torn ACL in his right knee. They also lost center Jared Sullinger on Jan. 30 to back surgery.

Boston now has 10 healthy players on its roster and three true guards. General manager Danny Ainge has said he will try to fill the team's three open roster spots with the Feb. 21 trade deadline approaching.

This season, Barbosa has averaged 5.2 points a game and 1.4 assists. However, during Rondo's absence he has averaged 8.0 points and 2.8 assists.
