Watch: Boxer's embarrassing post-fight miscue
Keith Thurman, wanna get away?
In a scene straight out of a Southwest Airlines commercial, the welterweight boxer thanked the wrong city after his impressive victory over Diego Chaves.
Moments after a 10th-round stoppage win over Chaves, for which the undefeated Thurman would later win "Knockout of the Night," he uttered a line he would probably like to have back.
After interviewer Jim Gray's first question (around the 1:03 mark of the video below), Thurman reels off a round of "thank yous" ... to God, his family, Showtime, etc. He also gives a shout-out to "this city right here, San Diego!"
Problem was, the fight was in San Antonio.
Thurman recovers well and moves on. But, boy, that looks awkward.
