Blake Bortles slings immediate pick-six, taps out on tackling

You know, looked at from one angle, Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles is the most remarkable quarterback in the NFL. He has altered the trajectory of dozens of teams, his fantasy impact is vast and momentous, and he threw the first touchdown of the day on Sunday.

Unfortunately, Bortles has altered the trajectory of the Jaguars’ opponents in a consistently positive direction, he’s impacted fantasy teams that have him or his receivers the way a torpedo impacts a ship, and his touchdown throw on Sunday was to the Houston Texans.

Barely three minutes into the divisional rivalry, Bortles threw a pass that Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson snagged with all the difficulty of a man pulling a roll of paper towels off a top shelf. And from there, it got worse: Bortles absolutely gave up on any attempt to tackle Jackson.

Yes, yes, we know, the quarterback isn’t supposed to try to tackle because of the risk of injury. But at this point, how much worse could the Jaguars’ season get?
