NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that the MRI on Chicago Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler showed a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. But Cutler will seek a second opinion.

If the injury is confirmed, it would be a season-ending injury for Cutler.

It also would very likely mark the end of his time with the Bears. Cutler, now 33 years old, signed a seven-year, $126.7 million contract with $54 million guaranteed in 2014 but the with that guaranteed money no longer counting against the cap beyond this year, cutting Cutler in 2017 would cost Chicago just $2 million against the cap in dead money.

If he has played his last snap for the Bears, Cutler finishes his eight years there with a 51-51 record and one playoff appearance.
