Sept 15 (The Sports Xchange) - As the regular season reaches the stretch run, the St. Louis Cardinals are regaining the services of another key player. Outfielder Matt Holliday, who has been sidelined with a strained right quadriceps since June 30, was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday before the Cardinals' series opener against the Brewers in Milwaukee. - - Minnesota Twins right-hander Phil Hughes was activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Hughes returns from a back injury, pitching for the first time since Aug. 9. - - The Toronto Blue Jays sent right-hander Drew Hutchinson, their Opening Day starter, to the bullpen. He is 13-4 but has a 5.33 ERA in 27 starts. - - Oakland A's right-hander Jesse Chavez was expected to start Wednesday, but he has a non-displaced fracture in his right ribcage and is out for the season. Right-hander Cody Martin will start in place of Chavez. - - The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of right-hander Vance Worley from Triple-A Indianapolis to add bullpen depth. They designated right-hander Radhames Liz for assignment. - - The Baltimore Orioles recalled right-hander Tyler Wilson, right-hander Oliver Drake, infielder Christian Walker and outfielder Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk.
