Arrest made in Clemson vandalism

Clemson University police arrested 18-year-old Micah Rogers of Pisgah Forest, N.C., in connection with vandalism to Howard's Rock, according to ESPN.com.

Rogers was charged with felony malicious injury to animals or personal property valued at more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, and misdemeanor trespassing.

Howard's Rock is the iconic fixture Clemson football players rub before entering Memorial Stadium.

The rock was vandalized June 2 in which the protective casing was damaged and a chunk of the rock was chipped off.

Part of the vandalism was captured on video surveillance cameras and a witness identified the suspect, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing into the broken part of the rock that has not been recovered.

Rogers was released from Clemson University Municipal Court on a $5,470 bond Friday.

Rogers is not a Clemson student does have a Tigers sticker on his truck and Clemson memorabilia in his home.
