Army CB Brandon Jackson dies in car crash
Army West Point sophomore Brandon Jackson died Sunday morning.
The academy released a statement Monday morning confirming that Jackson, a starting cornerback, died in a single-car accident in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Jackson, a native of Queens, New York, was 20 years old.
According to News 12, police believe Jackson’s car “hit the guardrail” and “flipped over.”

“We will honor his life as we mourn the untimely death of a young man who had a promising future as a leader in service to our nation.” said Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr., West Point superintendent, in a statement via the Times Herald-Record. “Brandon internalized our watch words, Duty, Honor, Country.”
Added Black Knights head coach Jeff Monken: “Words cannot describe the grief that our team is feeling over the loss of our brother and friend, Brandon. He was a beloved teammate and our hearts are with his family at this time of tragedy.”
On Saturday, Jackson helped Army get off to a 2-0 start in a 31-14 win over Rice. He registered three tackles in the win. Per the Herald-Record, the Army football team was informed of the news on Sunday afternoon.

Jackson played in all 12 games in 2015 and quickly emerged as one of the team’s top defensive backs. In nine starts, he led the team with three interceptions and his 62 tackles were fifth-best. In two games in 2016, Jackson totaled six tackles and broke up two passes.
