76ers pick up Turner's contract option

The Philadelphia 76ers exercised their contract option on swingman Evan Turner.

Turner will make $6.7 million this season and $8.7 million in 2013-14.

The 6-foot-7 Turner became a starter in his third season out of Ohio State and averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He led NBA guards in total rebounds last season while helping Philadelphia reach the playoffs.

Turner's career averages are 8.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
