49ers waive RB Jacobs
The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they have waived running back Brandon Jacobs, ending a relationship that was rocky from the start.
Jacobs, who signed with the 49ers last April after playing the 2011 season with the New York Giants, appeared in two games for the 49ers and had seven yards on five carries.
He was suspended by the team for the final three regular-season games after Jacobs voiced his frustration about his standing with the team on the picture-sharing service Instagram. Jacobs said he was "rotting away" with the 49ers, hated playing for the team and that the team was winning because it has talent, insinuating it wasn't due to the coaching.
It wasn't the first time Jacobs took to social media to voice his displeasure about his role with the team. On Nov. 15, he tweeted that San Francisco was treating him "Terrible" and that someone should "Never work in a place where you hate your boss so much, you should always be happy at work."
Jacobs, 30, has rushed for more than 1,000 yards twice - in 2007 and 2008 for the Giants.
