Clippers trade Richardson to Timberwolves

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade guard Quentin Richardson(notes) to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Sebastian Telfair(notes), Mark Madsen(notes) and Craig Smith(notes), leagues sources said Monday.

Richardson is scheduled to make a little more than $9 million in the final season of his contract, and could try to reach a buyout agreement with the T'wolves. This the third time in less than a month Richardson has been traded. The New York Knicks sent him to the Memphis Grizzlies in a deal for center Darko Milicic on the night of the draft. The Grizzlies then traded him to the Clippers on Friday for forward Zach Randolph.

Telfair could help strengthen the Clippers' backcourt depth. The Clippers earlier expressed interest in free agent guards Ramon Sessions(notes) and Allen Iverson(notes).
