Carolina Hurricanes Halt The Second-Round Coronation For The New York Rangers

The vibe did not necessarily emit the brashness of Kevin Millar's famous “Don't let us win one” line of Oct. 17, 2004 a day after the Red Sox were handed a 19-8 loss to the Yankees to fall behind three games to none in the ALCS. Instead, the mood inside the fairly crowded visiting locker room at Madison Square Garden was a quiet display of confidence by the Carolina Hurricanes, who are halfway to achieving what those Red Sox did against the Yankees 20 years ago. It is easy to be confident after winning an elimination game in the fashion the Hurricanes did. It was scoreless after one, a one-goal game through 40 minutes and by the final buzzer it was a 4-1 win for the Hurricanes, who scored their three goals rather easily in a span of 6:23.
