New Jersey Devils sign top prospect Seamus Casey to contract
The New Jersey Devils have signed top defense prospect and first-team All-American Seamus Casey. New Jersey, the Utica Comets' parent club, announced the move Monday less than a month after Casey's University of Michigan squad lost to Boston College in the semifinals of the NCAA Division I hockey tournament. Casey signed a standard three-year entry-level contract. The move comes about two weeks after New Jersey General Manager Tom Fitzgerald noted in an end-of-season news conference that the 20-year-old would sign with Devils in the offseason.
