UW women's basketball team lands needed help at center

Needing help for its undersized frontcourt, the Washington women's basketball team snagged a commitment from Eastern Michigan center Tayra Eke. The 6-foot-3 junior from Madrid, Spain led the Mid-American Conference in blocks per game (2.0) and in total blocks (57) last season while earning a spot on the league's all-defensive team. Eke, who began her collegiate career at Long Island University, spent the past two years at Eastern Michigan where she averaged 9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting 48.7% from the field and starting 47 of 59 games.
