Shaquille O’Neal says he spends $1,000 a week on mobile apps

"$1,000. On apps. A week." This is what the former NBA big man turned "techie" told the Wall Street Journal's Evelyn Rusli during an interview at SXSW this week. She seemed a little skeptical at first, but Shaq went on to describe his astonishing spending habits in greater detail. "Last week I bought like 20 deer hunter games," he told Rusli, admitting that, "I like hunting the deer on my phone." In case viewers needed further evidence of a veritable addiction, the self-described "geek" then said, "When I'm not working, I spend all my money on apps."

To be fair, O'Neal has done very well for himself outside of basketball by staying relevant in the tech world. As Rusli was quick to point out, he was a pre-IPO investor in Google and one of the first verified users of Twitter. But his weekly tab at the App Store has many wondering ... how does he have so much room on his phone? And, more importantly, if he's adding $1,000 worth of apps a week, doesn't it stand to reason that he probably has to delete roughly $1,000 worth of apps a week to make space?
