Matt Joyce channels Willie Mays

The stakes weren't nearly the same. One was during Game 1 of the 1954 World Series. The other was during a game in the middle of May. And if asked, Matt Joyce would surely be the first to tell you he's no Willie Mays. No one is. But the over-the-shoulder basket catch the Tampa Bay Rays outfielder made during Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres at Tropicana Field was similar to one of the most famous grabs in baseball history.

With the Rays clinging to a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth with one out, closer Fernando Rodney got Chris Denorfia to hit a deep drive to right field. Joyce ran toward the wall with his back turned, channeling his inner Say Hey Kid. Once upon a time, Mays famously tracked down Vic Wertz's deep drive to center at the Polo Grounds. Of course, Joyce didn't have to whirl around and make a throw back to the infield like Mays did (which is the part of "The Catch" many baseball experts agree is the most impressive part of the legendary moment) but it was still an amazing snag.

In golf, Tiger Woods took advantage of Sergio Garcia's implosion on the final two holes at The Players Championship. Garcia finished quadruple-bogey-double-bogey as Woods won the tournament for the second time in his career.

And the Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 97-87 in overtime as the Western Conference Semifinals shifts back to Texas on Tuesday.
