Julio Borbon’s horrible acting job

Perhaps he was just trying to get on base any way possible. After all, when you're in last place in your division, you have to think outside the box when it comes to generating run-scoring opportunities. But the move Cubs outfielder Julio Borbon pulled in the eighth inning of Thursday's San Diego-Chicago game was essentially baseball's version of a flop.

With the Cubs down 4-2 and a runner on first with two out, Borbon got creative during his at-bat against reliever Luke Gregerson. When the right-hander's 1-2 offering hit the dirt near Borbon's feet, the 27-year-old waited a moment, then acted as if he had been hit by the pitch! Borbon even hopped around the batter's box like he was in pain. But home plate umpire Dan Iassogna wasn't buying it. The batter eventually swallowed his pride and grounded out to second to end the inning. The Cubs lost the game 4-2. Borbon lost a little dignity.

Making up for Borbon's bizarre antics on the diamond was Wichita State's Tyler Baker. In a game against Kansas earlier this week, Baker somehow managed to scoop up a runaway squirrel with his batting helmet.

And the Warriors got 22 points and eight assists from Stephen Curry to eliminate the Nuggets 92-88 in Game 6 of their first-round series as Golden State advanced in the NBA playoffs. Next up is San Antonio.
