Derrick Rose says he’s the best player in NBA

Perhaps if this were July 2011, the statement would actually be true. After all, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was coming off a season in which he became the youngest player in NBA history to win league MVP honors. Conversely, LeBron James was coming off a disappointing NBA Finals that saw his Miami Heat lose in six games to the Dallas Mavericks. But it's July 2013. And after winning consecutive league titles, consecutive regular season MVPs (coming up one vote short of winning in unanimous fashion) and an Olympic gold medal, it's James — not Rose — who is clearly the best player not only in the NBA, but on the planet.

But Rose told CNN's Pedro Pinto otherwise. Watch the full interview clip here for context. You got to love Rose's confidence. This is a guy who missed all of last season due to a knee injury and was heavily criticized — even after being cleared to play — for not coming back to help a Bulls team that resembled a M.A.S.H. unit. But if a recent trip to Spain was any indication, the only guy to win an MVP award NOT named LeBron James since 2009 may be on to something.

Moving to baseball, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson's career may be in jeopardy after suffering a fractured right ankle against the New York Mets. Eric Young Jr. stepped on Hudson's foot while the 38-year old was covering first base. Hudson is done for the year after the gruesome injury.

Finally in NFL news, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks not one — but two — teams could relocate to Los Angeles.
