The tifo displays of the Derby della Lanterna are worth admiring

Genoa fans do not take their local derby with Sampdoria lightly and they clearly put a lot of effort into showing their support at the latest meeting between the two sides with two massive tifo displays. On one side of the pitch, they had a massive display of the club's mascot (a griffin) standing tall between a collection of Genoa legends. Then behind the goal, they hoisted the medieval gates of the city and two knights in full armor...

While fans of the much older Genoa invoked the past in their shows of supporter, Sampdoria supporters went with flags and flares to make their presence known...

And they were given more to cheer about as Sampdoria took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute that they held until the final whistle.
