The thrilling 0-0 draw between Brazil and Mexico on Tuesday left everyone breathless with the amount of excitement that took place. But through all the action, anticipation and a range of other feelings, no one summed it up better than a woman who was shown on television late in the match:
Social media instantly lit up with screencaps and GIFs of this woman's look of disbelief following one of the many close calls in the game. So who exactly is she?
Well, her name is Eugenia Karolyi, a Venezuelan reporter whose Twitter bio at @eukarolyi reads “citizen of the world” and “future president of FIFA.”
Karolyi became an Internet sensation in a matter of minutes and after finding out of her sudden fame, she was quick to join in on the fun.

Her first tweet about the hysteria (above) reads “I can’t hold in my laughter over all the comments and memes of my face. This was the great game I’ve ever seen in my life. Let’s go MEXICO! I love you!”
Hahahahahajha “@SirQuintana: @EuKarolyi ¿Eugenia Karoly? ¿Quien es esa? Yo soy Eugenia Perez pic.twitter.com/ZOo6GUfu9i”

She even cleared up the speculation about why exactly she was making the face when @StefyCastilloP tweeted out that Karolyi wasn’t making surprised at Ochoa’s amazing saves but in fact at the shot that Guardado attempted in the later parts of the game (seen below).
TRUE! @StefyCastilloP: La expresión de @EuKarolyi no fue por las atajadas de Ochoa, si no por un disparo de Guardado. pic.twitter.com/bxjbxSn87D

Karolyi currently works for DEPORTadas.tv and has multiple pictures of herself on assignment covering the World Cup. While she’s used to being in front of the camera for professional reasons, she’ll have to enjoy seeing herself as memes for others to enjoy.
Mexico plays their final group stage game Monday against Croatia.
