Landon Donovan matches MLS all-time scoring record with lovely chip

Landon Donovan scored a brace in the LA Galaxy's 5-0 win against Chivas USA, matching the MLS all-time scoring record with 134 career goals. His second goal came in the 41st minute with the Galaxy already up 3-0. He chased down a pass and chipped Chivas USA keeper Dan Kennedy, who came way off his line to try and beat Donovan to the ball, making his record equaling goal look easy.

Donovan has been in excellent form since returning from his hiatus earlier this year, so it was only a matter of time before he reached Jeff Cunningham's record. Already the U.S. national team's all-time leading scorer, it seems fitting that he's now just one goal away from having the 17-year-old league's record all to himself.

It took Cunningham 365 appearances to score 134 MLS goals while Donovan only needed 299.
