Indians interested in Carlos Pena

First baseman Carlos Pena made $10 million for one season of work with the Chicago Cubs. Now he is moving elsewhere and the Cleveland Plain Dealer hears that his next team could be the Cleveland Indians.

The paper has it that some members of the front office "went to ownership to see if they could make a deal work" for Pena, but there is "no word on (the) decision," according to the paper.

The 33-year-old batted .225 and hit 28 homers while collecting 101 walks last season and striking out 161 times. In his career, Pena has also spent time with the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays.
